Would you like to join us next Sunday 19th, 9.30-12.30 at the Bushlands to work on Area 12? This area is a mixture of quality bush and pasture which runs along our boundary with the Archery Club. There are a few weed seedlings to remove, some woody weeds to drill and fill as well as some preparation for a planting in that area. At morning tea there will be talk on identifying some of the Eucalypts found at Glenfern. Meet at the main, middle car park at 9.30am. Morning tea and tools provided. ![]()
Our next midweek conservation and conversation session is on Wednesday 1st April, 9am - 11am and will be along Ferny Creek again. Last month we cleaned up a good section of this lovely creek and it would be terrific to get more done. We also have the Leap into Nature bush playgroup coming that morning at 10am to help Marleen and Linda plant some reeds around the frog pond. If you would like to join in the fun meet at the main middle car park, rock wall entrance, Glenfern Road, Upwey. Tools and morning tea provided. ![]()
Today we worked in Areas 4 & 5. It looked fantastic, with not many weed seedlings to remove. Photos by Linda Fullagar & Daniel Jackson

We have noticed that our lovely Ferny Creek needs a bit of TLC so at our next midweek conservation and conversation morning we will be focusing our work there.
If you would like to join in meet us at the main middle gate, rock wall entrance, Glenfern Road, Upwey at 9am on Wednesday 4th March. Tools and morning tea provided. It was lovely down in the bush today. The rain had made the ground soft so the weeds pulled out easily. We were working in an area by Ferny Creek that has over the years had Pittosporums removed made possible by a series of Melbourne Water grants. Thank you friends for the wonderful work acheived today and for the delicious morning tea. Photos by Linda Fullagar
We are back for another great year at Glenfern. Our first bush restoration morning for the year is Sunday 15th February 9.30am - 12.30pm. We will be working near Ferny Creek where it is cooler. Tools and morning tea provided. Meet at the middle entrance car park, rock wall, Glenfern Road, Upwey if you would like to join in. ![]()

On Saturday evening we shared a lovely dinner in the chilly weather, with Christmas hats to warm our heads. On our twilight walk we spotted a ring-tailed possum and its digs (aka drey), a fantail nest, a wallaby, some butterflies, and the final surprise of the night? Micro-bats. Then off into the distance, binoculars helped identify pointy parts of the horizon as well-lit cranes. (The mechanical variety, not large birds atop of buildings sporting Christmas lights.)
